What is Botox?
Botox is a purified protein derived from the Clostridium botulinum bacterium and is the most extensively studied neuromodulator. When small amounts are precisely injected into targeted muscles, it works by blocking the release of acetylcholine, a chemical that triggers muscle contractions. This temporary reduction in muscle activity helps smooth out wrinkles in the treated area. Unbelievable, but there are 300 uses of Botox throughout the body!
How does Botox improve the aging process?
Crow’s feet are often among the first visible signs of aging, appearing at the outer corners of the eyes due to repeated facial expressions like smiling or squinting. Most facial lines develop from the continuous creasing and folding of the skin caused by underlying muscle movement—these are known as dynamic wrinkles. By temporarily preventing the muscle from contracting, Botox helps stop the skin from forming the same creases, allowing the area to appear smoother and more refreshed.
